Fifth Lisa Wilson Golf Day raises over £6000

The fifth annual golf day at Wellow where Lisa worked and played golf was a great success. Over 150 members played in the members competition on an absolute heaven sent day the sun and the golf really hotted up. As well as the members competition there was a separate sponsors competition won by Sue Bakewell and most surprisingly Clive Wilson Lisa’s dad. Ninety two attended the sponsors dinner and 72 the members barbeque. Mr Southampton himself Lawrie McMenemy presented the many prizes and also auctioned a day at St. Marys on his for hospitality to watch Saints. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Grumbleweeds’ who put on a great cabaret. The evening was topped of with dancing to ‘For One Night Only’. With the raffle auction, members donations and generous sponsorship £6300 was raised. Wellow golf club put on a first class day and donated the guests green fees to the charity.

Many thanks to all concerned.

Nearly 150 people played on the day with a members’ competition and friends and family competition. The evening cabaret starred comedian and singer Steve Womack who was on top form and well supported by ‘Soul Diva’ Danielle. There were some beautiful trophies and a whole host of lovely raffle prizes. A DVD, ‘Lisa’s Legacy’ produced by Lisa’s brother Ross was shown and the announcement of breaking the £100,000 barrier was made on the night. Lisa’s mum Tricia came second to Sue Bakewell in the Ladies guest competition, and Lisa’s brother Scott came second to Will Cheater in the men’s guest competition. The winners of the members’ competitions were ladies’ Margi Burt, men’s D G Lewis and junior Ryan Burgess.  Congratulations to you all.

Lisa’s Golf Day raises over £6000

Lisa’s Golf Day took place on Saturday August 2nd at Wellow Golf Club where Lisa worked and played golf for some eight years. Over 180 players turned up on a glorious summers day to join in the competition. It was particularly fitting that Lisa’s mum Tricia won the ladies guests and sponsors competition. During the evening over 150 people attended the prize giving and barbeque that was followed by music and dancing from the ‘One Hit Wonders’.  Entry fees, donations and sponsorship raised over £4000.  A charity auction carried out by Denis Bundy raised £1715, and the raffle brought in another £424, bringing the grand total to over £6000.

We would like to thank everybody for their support and hope this will become an annual event on the Wellow calendar.
