New Forest Marathon raises over £2500 for the charity

The New Forest Marathon took place on Sunday 10th September. The event was a huge success with over 5000 runners competing in the various events, from a family walk to a full marathon. Although the weather broke during the day, it did not have any effect on the vast majority of the runners. Various sponsors and runners on behalf of The Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund raised over £2500 for Lisa’s charity. Some of the known runners were friends of SES Autoparts: Shaun Monaghan, Tom Kidd, and Christian Rivron. Also, Kubler Racing – who train ‘Socrates’ for Clive and Trish – entered 2 teams that performed really well, with the girls winning the 5k trophy and Daniel Zurynek winning the Mens’ 5k.

Blues Traveler Supporting The Charity

Lisa loved to dance and really loved her music and when she was in Australia she liked a group called Blues Traveler. They had a big hit called Run Around and she would get on the podium (coffee table) in the backpackers hostel in Melbourne and dance her ass off!

We saw they were in Florida at Estero so got tickets to see them. They very kindly donated this album signed by all the members to be auctioned at a future fundraiser for the Charity. They also gave me a personal copy of the CD.
What a great night and truly amazing musicians. You can listen to Run Around on YouTube and their current album (pictured) is called Blow Up The Moon.
If you get the chance, you should see them live – amazing.

This year, instead of sponsoring the Lisa Wilson Golf Day, SES Autoparts will be sponsoring the New Forest Marathon and encouraging people to raise money for the charity through one of the several events taking place on the day. The event will take place on Sunday September 11th  at the New Forest Showground just outside Brockenhurst in Hampshire.

The New Forest Marathon is so much more than just a marathon; there is a half marathon, 10k, and 5k event, as well as a woodland walk and children’s fun run.

There is also the SES Corporate team challenge for teams of four — male, female or mixed teams can enter.

On top of this there is live music and many vendors selling goods, plus SES have a corporate area for light refreshments. Full details can be found at www.newforestmarathon.co.uk

SES are pleased to be able to offer a discount to friends of the charity;

For individuals invited by SES a 10% discount off the non affiliated entrants fee will be applied in the main competitions. You must enter SESRUN at the checkout stage.

For teams entering the SES corporate challenge an 18% discount will be applied. You must enter the code SESTEAMRUN at the checkout stage.

All entries can be made by visiting www.newforestmarathon.co.uk and following the sign up instructions. You will also be able to see more useful information about the event. The team entry needs the information from all four runners before it can be entered. Discounts will be applied at the checkout stage using the codes above.

Feel free to run for fun but we would encourage you to run on behalf of our nominated charity, The Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund.

If you wish to run for the LWSF, you can download a sponsorship/gift aid form here –> Sponsorship Form.pdf

13th Lisa Wilson Golf Day breaks all records

DSC04398Trish Wilson wins Ladies’ Nearest The Pin

The 13th Lisa Wilson Golf Day at Wellow on Saturday 25th was an overwhelming success. Whilst the weather had been atrocious on the Friday before, Lisa sent a lovely day of sunshine for the golfers to enjoy. With 100 Wellow members playing in the members tournament and 36 in the friends and guests competition the golf was really well supported.

Some 80 friends sponsors and guests came along for the evening meal and about the same number of members, filling the clubhouse with 160 for the prize giving and star cabaret.

Former Scholarship winner Charlotte Lystor spoke emotionally about her experience as a recipient of a Lisa Wilson Scholarship and the life changing way in which it had affected her life.

The star cabaret was performed by singer/songwriter and comedian, Steve Womack, who delivered an outstanding performance. The raffle raised £755 and the silent auction raised £1055. After the raffle, the  singer and good friend entertained the audience with his usual smooth style and had everyone on the dance floor until the close at midnight.

With sponsorship and donations coming in at over £7000 plus members entry fees, the amount of money raised is expected to be in excess of £9000–another 9 years added to Lisa’s amazing legacy.

Thank you all for your amazing support.

Who’sthedaddy is the daddy!!

On Saturday 11th July, Salisbury Racecourse saw Who’sthedaddy romp home to win over a mile and a quarter, winning his first race as a three year old. Over 20 friends attended the evening meeting which had been auctioned for the ‘Friends of Evelyn Rose’ appeal.

Jockey Timmy Murphy was a late change and his experience did the trick with a textbook ride.
