Olympic Candidate

One of last year’s recipients of the award Ali Lalani (pictured below) also spoke of the benefit the bursary had made to him. Despite being severely disabled, Ali has overcome his physical disabilities to become and is a member of Great Britain’s successful Bocha World Championship team, recently winning the gold in Canada. Ali spoke with great passion and eloquence and dedicated his gold medal to Lisa and thanked the charity for its support. This year Ali has taken a year off to concentrate on the Olympic games in Beijing, as a separate presentation Clive and Tricia Wilson handed over a sponsorship cheque on behalf of their company Romsey based SES Autoparts to help him with his expenses.

Fifth Lisa Wilson Golf Day raises over £6000

The fifth annual golf day at Wellow where Lisa worked and played golf was a great success. Over 150 members played in the members competition on an absolute heaven sent day the sun and the golf really hotted up. As well as the members competition there was a separate sponsors competition won by Sue Bakewell and most surprisingly Clive Wilson Lisa’s dad. Ninety two attended the sponsors dinner and 72 the members barbeque. Mr Southampton himself Lawrie McMenemy presented the many prizes and also auctioned a day at St. Marys on his for hospitality to watch Saints. Everyone thoroughly enjoyed the ‘Grumbleweeds’ who put on a great cabaret. The evening was topped of with dancing to ‘For One Night Only’. With the raffle auction, members donations and generous sponsorship £6300 was raised. Wellow golf club put on a first class day and donated the guests green fees to the charity.

Many thanks to all concerned.
