Charity breaks through the £50,000 barrier

We are pleased to announce that the charity has now raised in excess of £50,000.

Following the last two events, this amazing total has now been collected in Lisa’s name. This means Lisa has left a legacy of over 50 years of education to less fortunate students. Lisa would be extremely proud to know that she has helped so many youngsters fulfil their ambitions as she had the opportunity to do. With a bursary of £1000 per annum over three years, at least 17 students will benefit from the funding. We are about to announce the names of this year’s successful candidates who will be going into university in October.

We are now looking at new challenges. Already there is a commitment from several people to run in next year’s London Marathon, the application deadline for this is October. Anyone wishing to run and raise money for the fund should contact Clive Wilson on 077989 22222 or e-mail [email protected]

May we take this opportunity to thank everyone for their fantastic support.

An exciting evening took place on the 15th April at the Solent Hotel when staff from Southampton Institute carried out a Charity Auction at a staff conference on  behalf of Lisa’s Charity.  Some 24 lots were auctioned off by a professional auctioneer, items included Matt Le Tissier memorabilia, an Indian head massage, an overnight stay at the Solent Hotel and even a ‘slave for the day’.  The evening was a resounding success and with gift aid should nett  approximately £1000.  Many thanks to all concerned, particularly Ben Craig  for coming up with the idea.

Beatles evening raises £1600

A rousing night at Eastleigh Football Club saw over 125 people attend a fund raiser just a few days after Lisa’s 25th birthday. Most of the guests made the effort to dress up in true 60’s style and really let their hair down. The group the Phoney Beatles did two sets, one from the Sgt. Peppers era, and the highlight of the evening was the last session which played hit after hit from their great repertoire.
