Eastleigh Football Club gala dinner raises £4500

The Devere Grand Harbour Hotel Southampton was the setting for Eastleigh Football Club’s first Gala Dinner which took place on Saturday 28th February.

Over two hundred guests attended the event, including a host of celebrities including former England cricketer Robin Smith, Hampshire and one day England star Shaun Udell, and Matt Le Tissier. The evening was held to raise funds for the building of the new grandstand at Eastleigh this summer. At the end of the evening a limited edition print, donated by World Cup Winning goalkeeper Gordon Banks, was auctioned on behalf of Lisa’s Charity. The print signed by every surviving member of the 1966 World Cup winning team eventually sold to Elliott Trodd of Enfields Property Services for the amazing sum of £4500.

Shaun Monaghan raises £244

Our good friend Shaun Monaghan raised £244 running in the Bristol half marathon for Lisa’s Charity, and with gift aid this should increase by about 20%. We were hoping to publish a picture of Shaun but to date he’s forgotten to send us one!

Thanks a lot Shaun.

Craig David and Matt Le Tissier help raise £3000

Pop icon Craig David and a great fan of former Saints and England star Matthew Le Tissier recently signed an Eastleigh F C shirt along with Matt himself. At a recent fund raising dinner at Eastleigh the shirt was auctioned by comedian Mike Osman for £3000. Club manager Paul Doswell and sponsor Simon Kingsnorth both bid £1500 each to raise the money for Lisa’s charity. They then donated the shirt to the club which now hangs in pride of place on the boardroom wall at Eastleigh. Thanks for the magnanimous gesture gentlemen.

Lisa’s Golf Day raises over £6000

Lisa’s Golf Day took place on Saturday August 2nd at Wellow Golf Club where Lisa worked and played golf for some eight years. Over 180 players turned up on a glorious summers day to join in the competition. It was particularly fitting that Lisa’s mum Tricia won the ladies guests and sponsors competition. During the evening over 150 people attended the prize giving and barbeque that was followed by music and dancing from the ‘One Hit Wonders’.  Entry fees, donations and sponsorship raised over £4000.  A charity auction carried out by Denis Bundy raised £1715, and the raffle brought in another £424, bringing the grand total to over £6000.

We would like to thank everybody for their support and hope this will become an annual event on the Wellow calendar.

To coincide with the event, an article about the golf day and the Scholarship Fund was featured in the August edition of And Magazine. Please click here to view the article.

Abba Evening raises over £3000

This very special occasion to celebrate what would have been Lisa’s 24th birthday turned out to be a huge success. Over 150 people turned out mainly in fancy dress to party in the way Lisa loved to. The group ‘Abba Revival’ twice played ‘Dancing Queen’ and packed the floor with people dancing and crying at the same time. The raffle raised nearly five hundred pounds and with donations from people who couldn’t attend and ticket sales just over £3000 was raised for the Lisa Wilson Scholarship Fund.

For the evening, Lisa’s brother Ross created a photographic journal of Lisa’s Dream. The dvd is now available here

Tricia and I would like to thank everyone for their support.
